The EBTJV study divided watersheds throughout the region by intact, reduced, and extirpated predicted status. For each of these categories, the watersheds have been ranked in order best for conservation action.

Intact watersheds (viable reproducing brook trout populations) - best for protection

Reduced watersheds (brook trout populations that are experiencing pressure) - best for enhancement

Extirpated watersheds (brook trout populations no longer present) - best for restoration
